This Elgin American lighter has a wick that has never seen the "light of day or of lighting a cigarette." It comes with its original felt container AND a note explaining that De Lilah (Dee) Giertz designed this famous lighter when an employee of the Illinois Watch Case Company that made Elgin American products. Mrs. Giertz lived in Elgin, IL and is listed in that town's 1965 City Directory and others. The note mentions that the Gambling Commission failed to allow the Lodge to open.
